These types of ampakines have proven nootropic effects. They include IDRA-21, an ampakine derived from aniracetam. This type of drug is much more potent than its originator and has effects which can last up to three days after the dose is given.

Biarylpropylsulfonamides

Developed by Eli Lily Company, Biarylpropylsulfonamide nootropics are also proving to be effective ampakines. These compounds are also yet to undergo clinical trials, however initial reports suggest that these targeted ampakine compounds represent major breakthroughs in nootropic science.
